Luscher Farm

1-4pm

Farmhouse Classroom

Cost:  $15

Winter is the ideal time to craft designs for spring and summer gardens.  We'll cover assessment and visioning, site location, bed preparation and design, planting plans, great garden resources and more.  Planning is a critical component in creating a productive and functional garden.  Weather permitting, we'll take a walk around the demonstration garden and discuss important considerations for designing your 2006 garden.

The Oregon Tilth Organic Education Center (OEC) is a collaborative project with the City of Lake Oswego, located at the city's historic Luscher Farm.  The Luscher Farm landscape and restored farm complex include a classroom, organic demonstration gardens*, historic orchard, children¹s garden, community garden, and 10-acre CSA project.  The OEC offers on-going workshops, classes, internships, tours, special events and diverse volunteer opportunities related to ecological agriculture.  For more information contact the OEC @ (503) 638-0735 or andyp@tilth.org.

*Our gardens exist to provide a healthy and accommodating environment for experiential learning, community building, and civic service.  Nearly all the food grown is distributed through Oregon Food Bank affiliated shelters, providing fresh organic produce to underserved Portland-Metro residents.  In just five years, the OEC has inspired bountiful demonstration gardens where people of all ages are taught how to grow abundant food using minimal resources and space.  Please join us in 2006!
