2006-01 Prep Group meeting minutes
Submitted by Jeremy on February 3, 2006 - 9:04pm.
1) Debrief Tool workshop
All feedback we received was good. Big thanks to Gary!! Would be good to hold this workshop every winter. Several people (at least 5) who were unable to attend would like to have another one sooner.
2) Plan & facilitator(s) for Feb. Support group meeting
We will create a list of suggested topics to discuss (prior to the meeting), ask at the meeting if there are any other preparation topics people would like to discuss, then take a vote, and either go with one topic, or split into separate discussion groups on various topics.
Our topics (each could end up needing a facilitator)
- Scoping out neighborhood resources - Jeremy
- Post-peak oil careers - Gary
- Cohousing options - wasn't this Jeremy too?
- Good foods for storage - Carla
- Select topic for March workshop (from list below) - anyone not otherwise busy!
Facilitators will depend on topic(s) selected
3) Figure out gardening topic(s) for March workshop
Topic may be decided at February meeting. If not, we will decide.
Soil health, Pollenation issues (including feeding your pollenators), Companion planting, Plants that give you “the most bang for your buck(et)”, Edible flowers, When & where to start your food plants, Living and non-living mulches, Season extenders
4) Do we want to do an extra topic at the end of February if there are still blanks in that schedule?
2/22 - Carla not available due to Home & Garden Show, but other people may be
2/15 - Should be okay for everybody
Suggestions for topics: Good varieties of crops for the Pacific NW, Jeremy could show how to make a base map of your own yard or neighborhood from info available online, open to suggestions for films to show...
5) Move Feb. Prep group meeting? (4th Tuesday of Feb. is the DAY BEFORE 1st Wednesday of March! Also, PPG meeting is 2/20 and Home & Garden Show is Feb 22-26)
February meeting will be 2/27
Decided to change meetings to 4th Monday of the month so Pam can attend. If additional conflicts arise this can be revisited.
6) How should we determine workshop topics for May & beyond? Post list for group voting? Or just do what is easiest for us?
Current workshop list will be posted and we will take feedback on most desired workshops. (People may vote for as many workshops as they would be interested in attending.) Then we can figure from that list which ones to do.
7) Are we doing as much as we would like to do or is there anything else we would like to be working on?
Want to start some reading groups, for example on Holmgren, When Technology Fails, and Jacke's Edible Forest books
