Email from Hot Lips' owner
Submitted by Emily on March 9, 2006 - 9:04pm.
The co-owner of Hot Lips Pizza, David Yudkin, sent the group an email. Here's our correspondence; stay tuned for the date he'll come:

I've developed a powerpoint talk about Hot Lips' business philosophy that centers around Peak Oil and food and agriculture's dependence on oil. I offer a strategy for how we may face the future. I presented to the Sierra Club last night and received positive feed back from them (see below). I've given it at PSU several times as well as at Lewis & Clark, Catlin Gable, several high schools and even elementary schools. Would your group be interested?

My response:
David,
Thanks for contacting us. I've heard a lot of positive things about your presentations.
We would definitely be interested in having you come down! We hold events every Wednesday night from 7-9pm and the earliest dates that are open are April 19th and April 26th. Does one of those evenings work for you? If not, perhaps the 3rd or 4th Wednesday in May?
Look forward to hearing back,
Emily Pollard

He wrote me back - April 26th works for him. I'll ask him for a description of his talk and we'll get him on the calendar.
Waldorf!
I love Hot Lips Pizza. They have a daily special, and Mondays is Waldorf with toppings of apples, walnuts and blue cheese. It might not sound good, but - dang - it tastes good!
Good to know that he'll be speaking. I'm definitely there for that presentation. Thanks, Emily, for setting it up!

I'd love to hear from the Hot Lips people. I respect their business philosphy. Jen

I put the lips on their cars and windows. I'm immensely proud of them :). It's difficult to plan something to look random :P. Next time you have a chance to get some of their hand-brewed blackberry soda on tap, I'd go for it. You know, they create their own carbonation by yeast fermentation? Very kewl.

They know me so well
The last time I came in to the Hawthorne store the woman at the counter said, "one slice of cheese for here, right?" I fill up those punch cards, that's for sure. Lately they've had lots of red peppers on the veggie option (allergy!), so it's been cheese all the way for me, but that Waldorf pizza? OH, I'm drooling right now. And it is so nice to spend my money at a place that has such a great philosophy... now if we can only find some local mozz...
