Open to anyone! No prior experience necessary!

Free for gardeners enrolled in our programs.

For the general public, we ask for a sliding scale donation of $3-$10.  The general area where the workshop will be held is indicated (N=North, NE=Northeast, SE=Southeast).

VERMICOMPOSTING

Learn about the magic of composting with a worm bin! Turn your kitchen scraps into rich food for the soil. Worm bins are clean, compact, and can be kept indoors.

SUMMER PLANTING FOR WINTER EATING

We can grow food all year round in this mild climate! Learn what, when, and how to garden for a great winter harvest.

COOKING WITH SUMMER VEGGIES

Spend the evening with a local chef who will demonstrate how to cook seasonally with fresh garden veggies!

    Tomato Canning: Sat., August 19th, 11am-1pm (SE)

Learn about the many ways that you can preserve your summer vegetables and fruits for winter eating: freezing, canning, pickling, drying, and jams will all be covered, followed by a hands-on demonstration.

SEED SAVING

Learn to save your own seeds. Avoid spending money on seed packets each year, and select for your favorite plants.

GARDENING 101: PLANNING & DESIGN

An introduction to gardening, with a focus on garden planning and design – a great thing to do in the winter!
