National Animal Identification System

Something that I just came across is the USDA plan to implement an identification system for all livestock, aquatic life included. All premises that livestock reside on will have to be registered. Every individual animal will have to be identified, unless the premise is a large factory farm, feedlots, chickens etc. All veterinarians have to be registered. This includes all equines. Right now the program is voluntary but the plan is to have it mandatory by the year 2009. In addition to ID tags logs have to be kept of each time the animal leaves the premise. This supposedly is to help track diseased animals. I haven't made it though the information on the USDA website but the source where I learned about this said that Monsanto and other corporations are behind this.
I have read the part that the feedlots and factory farms can register all their animals under one ID. the small farmer,rancher,4Her,producer has to register each individual animal and maintain records on each individual animal.

NAIS

One more comment, When we need to be expaning the role of the small farmer the corporations seem to be behind an effort to prevent that. There is also a plan to privatize the ID system.

Let's get out!

Federal plans like this and those such as LNG terminals on the Columbia are all the more reason for Oregon to seceed from the US. Down with economic Imperialism!

You see, the Feds are trying to extert as much control over the states as possible, in the event of a "national" emergency - they end up owning everything. Goodbye beautiful Oregon, hello Corporatized Amerika. Let's get out before too much damage is done.

Federalizing/nationalizing

Perhaps it's not good to admit, but I'm afraid it's true, the current republican party wants major control over everyone (think less or no civil rights, illegal abortions, Sennerbrenner anti-immigrant bill) and control over our local resources. We should keep working towards a sustainable, local economy and hope like hell things change in the next election.

The national democratic party isn't much better

I have to say that it seems the national democratic party isn't much better. They act like they can't be bothered with fighting very hard. Specific people seem to be doing an ok job, but even then I don't fully support it.
