Description:

Come learn about what the City of Portland is doing to develop urban agriculture projects!

The Diggable City Project was an inventory process completed by PSU planning students for the City of Portland in 2005 to identify underused properties that could be more productively used as community gardens or other urban agricultural operations.

Urban agriculture encompasses a wide range of food-related activities - from education to production, collection to consumption - and can include community gardens, small farms, farm stands, farmers markets, and native plant nurseries.

Come hear what has happened since the Diggable City report was first accepted in 2005, and help us brainstorm some ways we can help the City make this a priority.

Current pilot projects, efforts by the County, and a recent prioritization of the inventory properties by City bureaus will be discussed.
