Next Great Adventure

Well, finding an apartment that will accept a rottwieler has proved difficult. So am still looking for an apartment
In the meantime I commute, would like to end that because the intent was to use less gas.
My parents bought an old camper for me so sleep there. I have to take water up until I am able
to get the well put in. But this has given me the time to watch the land. As the grass dies back, I have very tall bunch grass I am seeing more of the actual land.
Have made measurements to get a feel of where the house and septic area should go. I have to plan around the creek. Have been watching the creek. During the summer it dwindles down to a couple of springs that continue on through the summer. At this point it is starting to fill up more. It gets cold, but is bearable.
Water, hauling water is hard work. It's heavy. I knew this. I have hauled water before. But it's something I have to plan for which is a new experience. I have to water two dogs, myself, and a rabbit. Most of the water is for drinking. I use a small amount for washing up. This really is a new experience to plan for water.
Not having a well or toilet or electricity makes me more aware of what we take for granted.

Well, I closed on the house and property. I have 5 acres up in Washington. Mostly open with some pine trees and small oaks. (White Oak, I think) There is a year round creek that runs through the land also.
Since I have not found a place that will accept my rottweiler I am going to be camping and commuting until I find a place.
First order of business is to plant a cover crop to begin soil improvement.
Have joined Seed Savers Exchange.
Plan on building a strawbale or cob house, so will start looking for windows and doors, and collecting other building materials.
I haven't had a survey done, My Dad and I found a marker stake from a previous survey done about 36 years ago.

Rentals: I have found a long list of rentals that accept pets on the Oregon Humane Society's website. Most listings detail what they accept in the way of pets.

Closing on house sale end of June.

Have two house plans in mind, find an architect/engineer to determine final plan.

Property location, I expect to be on the eastern side of the mountains. (Cascades) I need the sun, otherwise west side would be okay.

Task order:
Locate land and purchase, but make sure what I want to do is permissable and permits/inspections that will be needed.
Put up storage shed of some sort.
Probably will need a well.
Be collecting plants, trees etc to plant. Cover crop to start soil improvements.

Keep job as long as possible.

Purchase some fiber processing equipment and additonal loom.

Develope outline for handspinning class.

Fairly local intentional community...

I know these guys have land on the east side of the mountains and are looking for members.
