You might have seen the preview during the Al Gore movie, or the entire episode of NOW, or heard the interview on NPR. You won't want to miss the Portland Premiere of WHO KILLED THE ELECTRIC CAR? Wed Juy 12 7:00 Hollywood Theatre, 4122 NE Sandy Blvd.

Director Chris Paine will be in attendance. He leased an electric car from GM in 1997, and thought about stealing it when they took the car back. GM also refused an offer of $1.8 million to buy 78 of the cars. Instead they ended up crushed in the Arizona desert.

You can probably guess why a car that used no gasoline, produced no exhaust, was virtually maintenance free and could be recharged for about $3 was taken off the market. But, you'll want to know more about this fascinating true story.
