The Good News about BP's shutdown

I was thinking... the BP shutdown could actually be good news. I say this because if it causes enough disruption to the markets, we are now saving over 400,000 barrells of oil a day!

We now have an oil piggy bank up in alaska with 400,000 barrells added to our savings every day they have that pipeline shutdown. Maybe they planned it that way to get more money on the market later when the value of the oil is higher... who knows. (Of course, if the value of money is less, that would cancel out their profits, but that's not the point of this post). Whether it's intentional or not, the news means that we are about to take a big hit financially on the west coast.

This could be a HUGE wake up call that is needed to get large amounts of people active in accepting peak oil, and then when the oil flows again, west coast cities can use that saved energy for infrastructure changes that are needed.

Of course, the big question is... will it be available to the US to buy? Is BP hedging their bets to sell it on the market in the future to lets say... China, instead of the US?

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm.

needed: a couple of bumps

I'm pretty clear that a few bumps in the road are needed to get folks moving. Having a few price spikes are kinda like the rumble strips on mountain roads.
