Task Force Resource & informative read
Submitted by torsti on August 26, 2006 - 7:54am
This is a transcript from the Australian Senate looking at Peak Oil and some of its effects. Of particular interest is to me is the experts' (and the senators) take on the feasibility of big, new projects, like new rail lines, or retrofitting existing suburbs--that there isn't time.
While this focusses on Australia, those interested in the Portland Peak Oil Task Force and its work may find some benefit in it for realism in Portland's planning.
It also can serve as a detailed and conversational Peak Oil Primer resource for those new or mostly new to Peak Oil.
Two links to help get there
http://aph.gov.au/hansard/senate/commttee/S9515.pdf
If that one doesn't link well, go to
http://theoildrum.com/story/2006/8/26/91121/3293#more
then scroll down through the comments probably about 2/3 down the page (may take a bit) to a comment by Twilight at 9:58 am on Saturday, starting "In yesterday's Drumbeat..." and finishing that sentence with a LINK you click on.

A better link.
