Local Group to Host Town Hall Meeting on Population Growth and its
Impact on our Lives.

Portland, OR In October of this year, the population of the United States will reach 300 million. The nation's population reached 200
million in 1967.
Also this year, world population reached another high at 6.5 billion people, adding half a billion people in only 6 years.

What is the impact of this growth?

On October 16, Population Connection Oregon is hosting a town hall meeting on the impact of population growth on our lives with three notable speakers:

* John Seager - Population Connection President and CEO, will speak about the different population challenges that we face at home and
around the world.

* William Ryerson - Population Media Center Founder and President, will speak about the use of media to challenge the public's views on population matters.

* Andy Kerr - Noted Oregon environmentalist and Larch Company
Founder and President, will speak about the connection between population and the environment in Oregon.
