it's time to get your shit together...

...and compost it!

Hello all... i am wondering if PPO can host a speaker on the topic of composting toilets... this is a big interest of mine and i have recently met a man who has been composting his family's poop and growing food with it for over a decade right here in PDX... he has a slide show about his $5 system... he understands both practice and theory of the process... he has many ongoing sustainability projects... what i'm trying to convey is that he has got his shit together in a number of ways. Many people in the sustanability movement have heard of the merits of compost toilets but so few do it (sucessfully!) in an urban setting... may be we can change that.

Also, may be this presentation can be linked with something on water...

what do you think?

Sounds interesting. What

Sounds interesting. What other projects has he got going on?
Also, how could we get in touch with him?

Yes!

I think this would be great. I don't remember the last time we had a composting toilet presentation but I think this person would be ideal. Could we also have someone from tryon life community talk about their composting toilet installation as well?

Ole Ersson

I think you are talking about Ole Ersson. He is very cool! He has done two presentations at the permaculture guild this year, one on composting toilets, and one on greywater systems with Joe Leitch. Check out his website http://ersson.sustainabilitylane.com. He has a busy schedule, but he always seems to make time whenever he can to talk to people about his passions, like composting toilets. How many people would be interested in this presentation?

...yes, i'm talking about

...yes, i'm talking about Ole Ersson.

so, how does a presentation get a green light?

Scheduling a presentation...

Generally, someone champions the idea at the PPO Council meeting (the next council meeting is going to be this coming Monday Nov. 13 at 7pm at Laughing Horse Books on 10th and E. Burnside.) If you want to talk to him and find out what his schedule is like before the Monday meeting, I can bring it up then. Otherwise we'll have to schedule a presentation for sometime in January or later. It might be best if you came to the council meeting to schedule the presentation, since you'd be the contact person and possibly the host for the event (and anyway, it is always nice to have another voice at the council meetings...)
