Recap: Al Bartlett video 2/15/06
Submitted by Emily on February 16, 2006 - 8:53pm.
Last night we showed the Al Bartlett talk "Arithmetic, Population and Energy" on DVD. Read film description. About 40-45 people attended - lots of new faces too!
Here's how to order the DVD:
You can order Al Bartlett's famous talk, "Arithmetic, Population and Energy: Sustainability 101" from the website at www.colorado.edu/news/releases/2005/71.html. If you call 303-492-2670, you can order it via phone, or you can email ghaffari@colorado.edu. The DVD is $35.

I was out of town and missed the viewing. Is there any place to rent this? Or anyone willing to loan it out? I would hate to dip into my solar panel funds for $35 to get one viewing.
Cheers,
Adam
you can download a RealPlayer version
You can download a Real Player version of the presentation here: http://edison.ncssm.edu/programs/colloquia/bartlett.rm
The DVD version is a much nicer presentation, but this one is likely good enough if you can download 100+ meg.

Review "Arithmetic, Population and Energy"
I thought it was great. One of the great messages it sent to me was the fact that it is impossible to be stable with any kind of steady growth. 'oil usage stable at 7% growth' means, in fact, that you will double usage every 10-12 years, which has been our pattern. This means that, every 10-12 years, you will use double all the energy that has been used in oil history prior to that time (of an ever diminishing resource)
