Topics for May 10th meeting @ St. Francis
Submitted by Jeremy on May 8, 2006 - 10:50pm.
With regards to the upcoming General Meeting, I would suggest one of the topics for the evening is what can do really soon for peak oil. Here are a few ideas off the top of my head.
- suggestions for showing movies to friends and family
- read PPO's Principles of Preparedness
- take an energy audit of your current life style - http://www.portlandpeakoil.org/resources/energyuse.xls
- take some permaculture courses
- take some gardening courses
- get to know your neighbors
- get prepared for the typical hosts of big problems (earthquake, flood, long power outage, locusts ....)
- get involved with your neigbhorhood association
- all the emotional issues associated with this can of worms.
- evaluating transportation
Any other suggestions?

books
Read books like When Technology Fails, Tom Brown's Guide to City and Suburban Survival, and other preparation guides. Or magazines like Mother Earth News, Backwoods Home, Back Home, etc. And one way to evaluate transportation is through that link on this site to the Zones & Sectors article from the Permaculture Activist a few months back.
