Earth Day Celebration of Localization
Submitted by organic brian on February 14, 2006 - 2:12pm
Several notes on Earth Day Celebration, which will occur on April 22nd at Sellwood Park. This is a HUGE celebration of sustainability, with a lot of interactive exhibits and fun activities. I may be behind on current events, but... is anyone planning to host a PPO table at this event?
Also, I'm seeking individuals to help me organize the Better Transportation Fair, which is a segment of EDC that celebrates sustainable transportation and energy. This is a lot of work, but a very fun task which involves a lot of contacting individuals and groups about tabling at EDC and being involved in EDC activities, also setting up the BTF at the event.
Finally, the organizing group is seeking a tagline for the event. Last year, the event was called "Earth Day Celebration of Localization: Weaving the Community Web"... any ideas for a tagline that is evocative of Peak Oil, or localizing resources, without being too overt? The message about the naming of EDC from the CNRG mail list is below. Also, for insight into EDC check out earthday.cityrepair.org
Below is the latest message about EDC from the CNRG mail list.

Subject: Name Earth Day!
This year's Earth Day celebration needs a new theme!
The Earth Day Coalition is looking for a new theme name for this year's
event taking place at Sellwood Park on April 22, 2006. Previous themes
have expanded on the "Celebration of Localization" message of thinking
globally and acting locally as each year's event highlights local and
sustainable businesses, organizations and performers from around the
Portland area.

Earth Day
Dear Outreach folks, I'm down for tabling? Anyone else?

Earth Day
I wrote about tabling at Earth Day and heard back:
The fee for all booths (except for food vendors) is $30.00 booth space, $100.00 includes a tent rental. Tent supplies are limited, so I would highly reccomend that you bring your own tent, because it will probably be rainy.
