Artist, natural builder, and teacher Bernhard Masterson will present an entertaining slide show on the construction of his cob and strawbale house. Discussion will focus on how heavy earthen garden walls can be used to create micro-climates and extend your growing season. Also he will discuss how cob cold frames and green-houses create superior growing environments. Information on local natural building workshops and resources will be available.

Meetings are held at Pacific Crest Community School at NE 29th and Davis (2 blocks N of Burnside)
Potluck starts at 6:00 p.m. - Please bring your own plate/cup/utensils and a yummy dish to share
Meeting topic starts at 7:00 p.m.

We are starting an urban chicken co-operative at Zenger Farm to raise laying hens for locally, organically grown eggs.

Our goals:
—To create a source for local, organic eggs
—To increase the sustainability of farming on Zenger Farm
—To provide an educational opportunity to learn about urban farming and chickens, and support participants in raising their own backyard flocks
—To increase community involvement in local foodways

If you have some experience raising chickens and/or working with volunteers in cooperative environments, and would like to be involved in this project please come to an organizational meeting:
